A Little Light Writing

The oldest living things in the world

a spiderweb refracting sunlight to form a rainbow along its strands
Florida, summer 2010

The oldest living things in the world… eat air, digest it slowly. Make themselves patient.

Make themselves quiet.

Blink at you with wary eyes.

You, the dream:
rainbow tears cascading,
electric colors close and breathing,
milk spilled on the starry way.

Alone they wait, past lonely, in corners of the world you would never dare.
