A Little Light Writing, Poetry

Divinely Played

pink grass at sunset

My heart’s
had enough
I stand in the rain
and wonder
is this all we’re for—
the universe’s long game?

Lila laughs, says
we are
the
game

She kisses electricity
captured in stones,
picks bouquets of stars…
the rain doesn’t
touch her
she is the rain

I wonder

what if
we
are the cards
that play
our fate,
shuffled by
arcana and time?

what if
we
are the mysteries—
unsolvable
to each other,
unsolvable
to ourselves?

Lila says shhhh
quiet, shhhh,
she sheds her skin,
dancing,
and swallows
the sun

I taste your light,
see through
her eyes

I reach
to hold you,
she lets you go,
drying my tears
from your face
